What – Philippine Semiconductor & Electronics Convention and Exhibition (PSECE)
Where – World Trade Centre Metro Manila, Pasay City.
When – October 25th to 27th, 2023
Abrel Booth – No. 117
With an estimated turnout of 20,000 to 50,000 visitors and over 500 exhibitors, PSECE stands as a global stage for industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders. For Abrel, this expo is a prime opportunity to connect with customers, showcase all our latest innovations, and strengthen our foothold in the ASEAN region, which is naturally one of Abel’s largest markets.
Abrel’s booth, no. 117, will be a showcase for our innovative approach and product expertise. We are looking forward to unveiling our latest products, including Burn-in Boards, the Bibtest55XL Burn-in Board tester, Socket test probes, and the Endzone Burn-in System. These cutting-edge solutions reflect our commitment to excellence and our drive to meet the evolving needs of the semiconductor and electronics industry. There’s a quick round-up of these products later in this article – so you’ll know what to expect at the stand.
If you’re coming along to the expo, and we haven’t already arranged to meet you, why not schedule to meet us there, in advance of the trip? Our CEO Declan Brosnan will be attending as will a number of the Abrel team.
If you’re considering attending the Expo but haven’t decided yet, this article gives a round-up of what’s scheduled to happen over the 2 days – it’s a busy time!
Expanding into the Asian Market
One of the highlights of Abrel’s participation at PSECE 2023 is our engagement with existing customers. Abrel has a long history of travelling to reach out directly to our customers and it’s this hands-on approach that has enabled us to stay ahead of competitors – developing tech directly in line with customer needs. And naturally visiting clients overseas has grown the business globally, which is one of the reasons why we are so active in the Philippines and the ASEAN region in general.
The ASEAN region if of course a centre of excellence in this field and therefore it holds immense potential for Abrel and for many of us involved in this sector.
The Philippine Semiconductor and Electronics Industry
This event is significant globally and in terms of promoting the growth of the Philippine semiconductor and electronics industry. In 2022, electronic exports from the Philippines accounted for a staggering US$ 49.1 billion, representing 62.3% of the country’s commodity exports. The role of this industry in the Philippine economy cannot be overstated, and PSECE plays a pivotal role in highlighting its contributions.
The themed plenary sessions will tackle critical topics such as next-generation manufacturing, the role of the higher education sector in the industry’s evolution, and strategic policies for economic development.
On day one, things will kick off with the usual ribbon cutting ceremony, and there’ll be plenty of buzz around the Conference Centre, with industry participants from across the globe keen to connect and share expertise.
At this stage the exhibition halls will be opened, and we’ll be as interested as everyone else to get the chance to see what each company is bringing to the table.
Plenary Sessions
The kick-off Plenary session is then scheduled, where we’ll hear all the latest news on the tech that’s about to land and developments in the industry as a whole. It’s good to keep an open mind and conferences like this prime us for the future.
Day two’s Plenary session will discuss the role of academia in the industry. As engineering students transition to workers, it’s vital to keep our finger on the pulse of what is being taught across various countries and it’s surprising how the emphasis changes from region to region. Also it’s a chance to find out what the views and interests of next generations are.
Day three will see GMM and CEOs hold a talk on the state of policy and regulatory issues. This is very topical of course and has a big impact on the semi-conductor sector. So it’ll be interesting to hear about developments in this field.
Breakout Sessions & Jobs Fair
The Networking Committee breakout sessions include a number of topics and we are keen to get on top of as many as we can between the Abrel team in attendance – subjects include IT, Finance, EHS, HR, Logistics, Procurement, and Security.
There’s a jobs fair running in conjunction with the Expo and it’ll be interesting to see the kind of recruitment activity going on in the sector and to hear from young people looking to enter the industry, as well mingling with other employers like Abrel who have a few more years under our belts!
Stellar Speaker Line Up
The speakers this year are bringing a vast wealth of knowledge and experience with them.
Jerry Jimenez Bongco was, just this year, appointed as the Amazon Web Services manager Country Manager for all of the Philippines. With over a decade of experience in his previous role at Microsoft, Mr. Bongco will surely be delivering some fresh views from the very top of the technology field.
Chandra Anamirthan is the VP and Asia Head of Western Digital. WD are at the forefront of modern digital storage solutions, and digital storage must always keep pace with the technology industry as a whole, so we’re sure to hear some fascinating insight from a man with his finger on the pulse.
Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso O. Panga will also speak, and we firmly believe that a person so close to every industry in the geographic area will illuminate many of the strengths of this beautiful part of the world.
Thre will be several more speakers, but they aren’t giving everything away just yet!
