International Markets Week is Enterprise Ireland’s biggest event in the calendar each year so, and as they have been hugely supportive of Abrel over the years, we couldn’t miss out on heading along for a bit of networking with our EI friends and other client companies.
Over the three-day event more than 2000 meetings were held as approximately 600 Enterprise Ireland Client Companies attended to take advantage of meeting EI’s International Market Advisors who flew in from around the world.
We love getting out to meet up with our contacts and are always happy to make new connections!
Brexit Zone
Obviously, Brexit was a hot topic at the event and for the first time there was a dedicated ‘Brexit Zone’. The UK is an excellent market for Irish exporters like Abrel as it has no language barriers and logistics are obviously very easy and quick. Traditionally Irish companies have grown strong ties with the UK and these have become a little bit uncertain due to Brexit.
Many of the companies attending were given the opportunity to discuss their preparedness for Brexit and it has been reported that more than 60% said they had not taking any steps to get themselves ready for the changes coming down the line.
At Abrel we have put in place a number of steps to be ‘Brexit Ready’ and continue to monitor events as they unfold. Part of our strategy is to keep in close contact with our clients in the UK and we take regular trips to meet with them.
For any business that feels they might be exposed in this respect, EI has produced a handy tool

The Irish Advantage
During International Markets Week Enterprise Ireland launched a new campaign, The Irish Advantage, with the aim of supporting the growth of Irish exports into the Eurozone.
The campaign is designed to offer support to Irish companies along this journey. At the launch Julie Sinnamon, EI CEO, said that the goal is to grow exports into the Eurozone by up to 50%.
Central to our growth strategy at Abrel is to continue to develop strong relationships with companies throughout the EU, Eurozone and further afield. Over the past 2 decades our European sales team has won several key contracts that has seen us supply our burn-in boards and burn-in test systems to numerous leading tech companies within the EU. Obviously, we also operate extensively in other regions across the globe too – check out a recent US trip to visit clients.
